Justin Porter began his job as Executive Director, Special Education Programs in Texas in 2018. Dr. Porter holds a Bachelor‘s degree in Management and Organizational Development from Spring Arbor University in Spring Arbor, Michigan, a Master of Education degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, and a Doctor of Education from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. He began his career in education as a bilingual elementary classroom teacher and over the past 22 years has held leadership positions at the campus, district, and state levels. Most recently, Dr. Porter serves as the Executive Director for Special Education at the Texas Education Agency where he oversees programs for students served by special education in Texas public schools.
Dr. Porter believes the best part of leading Texas' special education program is the opportunity to significantly improve the statewide system that serves the 605,000 + kids with disabilities in the Lone Star State.
