Prior to becoming the Director of Special Education and Title Services in KS, Bert served as Superintendent, Director of Special Education, Director of Federal Programs, Director of Food Service at West Elk USD#282 in Howard, Kansas (27 years as Director of Special Education for 3 Districts, including 14 years as Superintendent of the Sponsoring District).
Bert believes the best part about leading special education in KS is serving the people of Kansas (Parents, Guardians, Students, Advocates, Legislators, Administrators, School Specialists, Teachers, Paraprofessionals and Other Service Providers) in order to meet the needs of students with disabilities to have successful and fulfilling lives (post-secondary success).
