This In-Brief Policy Analysis synthesizes The Special Education Elementary Longitudinal Study (SEELS) findings from one SEELS report, Engagement, Academics, Social Adjustment, and Independence: The Achievement of Elementary and Middle School Students with Disabilities. This synthesis addresses the question of how students with disabilities are doing in the domains of school engagement, academic performance, social adjustment and independence. Findings lend themselves to policy recommendations specifically for local education agency administrators but are also of interest to state administrators.
