State Personnel Development Grant Survey - In April 2007 NASDSE surveyed the state directors of special education in an effort to showcase how State Personnel Development Grant (SPDGs) money was being used in the states.

 

State Personnel Improvement Grants by Category - In May 2007 NASDSE compiled its member SPDG survey in order to illustrate the common SPDG efforts occurring in the states.

 

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act - How does the new Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA) differ from IDEA ’97? NASDSE’s comments on the proposed Part C IDEA (PDF) - Regulations On July 23rd NASDSE submitted comments to The Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) on the proposed regulations for Part C under The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. Highly Qualified Teachers and IDEA (PDF) - NASDSE and the National Education Association (NEA) have prepared a flow chart to describe the highly qualified teacher (HQT) provisions in the new Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA), P.L. 108-446. NASDSE’s comments on proposed changes to Table 3 (PDF) - On October 13th, 2007 NASDSE commented on proposed changes to the Table 3 of the reporting tables that states use to report the extent to which children with disabilities served under IDEA Part B receive special education and related services with their nondisabled peers. NASDSE’s comments on IDEA Part D National Activities Comprehensive Plan (PDF) - On January 11, 2007 NASDSE submitted comments on the IDEA Part D National Activities Comprehensive Plan, which was posted in the Federal Register on November 27, 2006.

NASDSE’s comments on the proposed Transition Priority (PDF) - On March 15, 2007 NASDSE commented on the proposed priority, “Improving the Postsecondary and Employment Outcomes of Youth With Disabilities” that was published in the Federal Register on February 15, 2007.

NASDSE submitted comments (PDF) in response to the Department of Education's request for input for the new regulations for the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004 (IDEA 2004).

Building the Legacy: IDEA 2004 - The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) is a law ensuring services to children with disabilities throughout the nation. IDEA governs how states and public agencies provide early intervention, special education and related services to more than 6.5 million eligible infants, toddlers, children and youth with disabilities.

Infants and toddlers with disabilities (birth-2) and their families receive early intervention services under IDEA Part C. Children and youth (ages 3-21) receive special education and related services under IDEA Part B.
